It is called the Core. The Lifestar. The center of the Imperium and bastion of power for the spread of human civilization across the stars. Far from the Emperor's homeworld of Aldaun, at the edge of rim world space lies a cluster of planets under the iron grip of the Gevroh Corporation. The smallest of these is Sekris. A barren, inhospitable wasteland, Sekris serves as headquarters for the corporation's mining operation- and as home to thousands of colonists who toil to keep the machines of industry running.
By corporation decree even the children must work. It is here, in the Lantus Crater basin beneath an artificial sun, that nine year old Loabel Dantru has discovered something quite extraordinary.

This story helped me through an awfully long layover at an airport. I picked it up as just something to pass the time, but it totally sucks you in. Before you notice, you're following the main character around in your head, wondering how everything will work out. The only thing - there is so much detail to the story that by the time you get to the end, you're wanting to hear about all the untold parts. I hope this one is going to have a sequel (or a prequel) or a next chapter or something like that. It's an excellent afternoon read for science fiction lovers.Product details

Loa Secret Coredawn Chronicles Book 1 eBook Brian Hull Reviews
Loa's Secret sets up a world unlike ours and yet one peopled with characters that are real and believable. The author draws you into this place and to the plight of these people by using vivid language like a paint brush. I felt transported to Loa's world and appreciated the themes of good vs. evil, a child's innocence and hope bringing salvation to others. I would definitely like to read the sequel(s)!
Such a great book! Far from home at the end of of the world, with machines, space, many planets. I look forward to the 2nd book, when it comes out?
This is a great story for those who like to read fantasy tales about fighting the establishment (though I won't say if they win or not). The main character is a very likeable young girl who is both naive (especially about friendships) and also very brave. There is lots of action that keeps the reader interested to see what will happen.
If you like reading interesting stories about flawed societies and heroic characters who attempt to right the system (through lots of unexpected turns), you will enjoy this fast-paced story!
